Google Analytics to track traffic to your blog
How do you track the traffic to your blog once you have installed WordPress on your hosting site ? Google Analytics seem to be really good for this and it’s free, so here’s how I made it work for my site.
- Download the google analytics plugins from http://www.semiologic.com/software/marketing/google-analytics/
- Unzip the file and install the resulting folder into your wp-content/plugins folder where you installed wordpress
- Go to your wordpress admin page and select plugins.
- The google analytics plugin should now be available there.
- Activate it.
- Next, sign up for a google analytics account at http://www.google.com/analytics/
- Copy the legacy script code that is given to you when you setup the account
- Go back to your wordpress admin site and choose settings-google analytics.
- Paste the copied script in the provided area.
- Click Update Options.
- Go back to you google analytics account and you should see your account updating to start retrieving data from your blog.
Happy Tracking….
